Celebrating 63 Years!

I was lucky enough this year to have my Dad in town for his birthday. Not very often that happens.
I brainstormed with my siblings and we put together a surprise birthday party for him, on his birthday which conveniently fell on a Friday. First we decided to check out the Carl Bloch exhibit, which was beautiful and amazing to realize how many of his works we see in our church but dont realize they were done by him. Then, thanks to my creative sister Maegan, we themed the party at the church as the "Steven Glenn Smith Art Exhibit: Celebrating 63 Years."

Surprisingly in just a week I managed to get artwork from everyone but Jennie. If you would like to see all of them check out my collection here.

For the party, we made individual pizza's, had a "how well do you know grandpa" quiz, and delicious carrot cake with real cream cheese frosting made by Melissa.

Overall, I think Dad really enjoyed it. He stood up during cake time and announced how he thought it was going to be a boring day and no one would remember him. However, it was just the opposite and expressed how loved he felt. Mom told me he kept saying to her, "this has been planned for a long time." So I think it was a success :)

We love you Dad and hope you really enjoyed your birthday!
